Easy to put together. Not too heavy. I can put it together, lift it, and put into place. I’m an older woman. I’ve purchased three of these. The X brace seems tricky — it fits perfectly when the bookcase is level, and not racked. That’s why you shouldn’t tighten the shelves till last, you need that wiggle room for the X brace.

Nice shelves BUT the box is worse than Ft Knox to get into (it’s stapled and glued with a big No Box Cutter symbol – yeah right), the instructions are clear, but assembly not so much. Heaven forbid you lose a screw, there are no extras provided! But I only had to swear in 2 languages instead of 4 and the shelves will work for what I need them for. I got them on sale and would have been sorely disappointed if I paid full price
